O’Fallon Dentures Dentist Improves Dentures Using Mini Dental Implants

The marvels of modern dentistry have truly made it easier than ever before for people suffering from tooth loss to restore their smiles. In our O’Fallon dentist office, we are happy to provide our patients with a variety of restorative dentistry options. In this short article we will be reviewing how two treatments—dentures and dental implants—can be used independently and together to replace teeth.

A basic overview

A denture is a set of replacement teeth that sits on top of the gum tissue. These replacement teeth are held in place with dental adhesive, and they can be used to replace all of the teeth on the top and/or bottom of the patient’s smile.

Mini dental implants are small stand-alone replacement teeth. Each dental implant has its own mini titanium implant root, which extends into the patients gum and bone tissue. The restoration is then attached on top of this implant root.

Both of these treatments can, on their own, restore patients’ smiles. However, these treatments can also be used in combination to help a patient reclaim his or her dental health.

Here’s how it works: the patient has a few dental implants inserted into his or her jaw. These dental implants are capped with specially crafted restorations that are designed to fit into small sockets that are built into the patient’s dentures. When used together, the mini dental implants stabilize the patient’s dentures: making it easier for the patient to eat and speak.

The mini dental implant placement process takes only a couple of sessions to complete (rather than the months that conventional implants take).

Our O’Fallon dentures dentist office can give you more information on both of these restorative options. All you need to do in order to get started is to call our office, or schedule a personal consultation with our dentist.
