O’Fallon Dentist Walks You Through Tooth Replacement Treatments

If you are suffering from tooth loss, our O’Fallon dentists are here to help you find the perfect restorative treatment for your smile, specifically. As a dental patient today you have more toot replacement treatment options than ever before. Keep reading to learn more about how these treatments work!

One tried and true tooth replacement treatment is the denture. This dental prosthetic replaces multiple teeth in a row. The dentures that we create are customized to fit each individual patient—we personalize the color, shape, and size of the dental prosthetic to meet your needs. Conventional dentures sit on top of the patient’s gums—the base of the denture is molded to fit over the patient’s jaw bone and gum tissue.

Dental implants are state-of-the-art alternatives to traditional dentures. Dental implants are actually permanently embedded into the patient’s jawbone. Every stand-alone implant has a titanium root that extends from the visible dental prosthetic down into the patient’s jawbone. Once a dental implant is in place is not removable, and you will care for it as you care for your natural teeth.

Mini dental implants use the same technology as traditional dental implants, but the implant roots are much thinner than conventional implant roots. Mini implants may be useful for replacing particularly small teeth, or for replacing teeth for dental patients with diminished jawbone density.

Mini dental implants are also critical components of all-on-four treatment: our final tooth replacement option. This treatment involves our dental team permanently anchoring your denture in your mouth using mini dental implant roots. This treatment is called “all-on-four” because it generally takes only four implant roots to stabilize a full denture.

As you can see there are a number of different ways that you can go about replacing teeth. Our O’Fallon dentists are happy to give you any additional information that you may need. Please call us to get started!
