Dental treatment can be a difficult thing for many people to pursue. Maybe these patients had upsetting dental experiences in childhood, or perhaps they suffer from dental sensitivity. No matter what the case, our O’Fallon sedation dentist office is here to help patients overcome fear and anxiety.

So let’s learn more about the realities of sedation dentistry.

Q: Can sedation dentistry help me if I have really sensitive, pain-prone teeth?

A: Sedation treatments, such as oral conscious sedation, can calm you down enough to get into the dentist’s chair. By the time you start treatment you’ll feel relaxed and comfortable. Then our dental team can then administer any additional pain-neutralizing treatments necessary.

Q: How long does it take to go through the sedation dentistry process?

A: The oral conscious sedation process begins about an hour before your come in for your dental appointment. At this point, while you are still at home, you will take a small pill that our dentist has prescribed for you. This pill helps you calm down before dental care. After treatment, you will recuperate at home, and the effects of sedation will wear of in a short period of time (usually about an hour or two). Please note that you will need someone to transport you to and from the office.

Q: Does it hurt to have sedation treatment administered?

A: No! This process is very comfortable and stress-free from start to finish! Patients who undergo sedation treatment report very high levels of satisfaction.

Sedation dentistry is here to make you feel empowered and comfortable in the dentist’s chair.
